..as in H&M ..exhibition rooms in Seca and Muntanya, have got their numbers, 7 and 8. We are talking here about some 400 meters of exhbtion area. This will be useful for you to follow the descrition of the process of construction through the following months!!

We finally openned the H&M last month of june...we are now beginning the last part, the SECA AND MUNTANYA of our permanent rooms..for this last part we will be using the same square meters that for H&M..in the rooms just above. The structure though will be different, Concepts will be located at the short room , whereas Objects at the large, because of this we hava decided to incorporate the new technologies area into objects..balancing both spaces. Here are two pictures of how these spaces look now, we are re-organising the air conditioning conductions -they were located into a structure that disallowd to enjoy the beautiful silling of these rooms, so we are diverting in a technically complicated job, which implies installing the conductions you see in the picture-...but this is just the beginning.....of the end of the permanent exhbitions at the valencian munseum of ethnology.

there is lots of activity in the exhibition rooms...days left are counting down..and everybody is working hard ..nerves are also in the air..this is a time of many details to be solve..

they are fragile, difficult to manage..but they finally got up, the building team of room 5 did show their hability thanks!.....

..this week there is not stop, building crew is on the run in the "concepts" room..we are beginning to see what we , so far, only saw on the paper..everyday there is something new.this is mainly wood work, still to came pictures, original pieces, electronic bits and bobs..our plans are to finish this room this week..or almost..and concentrate next week on the "objects" room..will we make it before the 23th???...hope so!

last week lots of work was being done at the workshops...room number 5 though, still seems as we will not do it for the night of the 23th!!....on friday, several bits of the area 2 -inhabiting- arrived...we only have to put them together..and add the pictures..it sounds easy..but it is not..this area as the other in the concepts bit has been designed in sections so it could built away and brought in pieces..

this is hard time..lots of people working with a dead line...

it is the time of the objects...!

..part of the team is now working in the objects room, work has to be done is definning their final way of display and the kind of sujections they will have; some scketches were already done at the time of their selection (that is helping now a lot)..but now is time to definitive desicions. People from Obrador (the company that has done the designe) and a few curators are on the job...where will this go better...?...

I forgot!! as you can see lights are on at the show boxes...this has been not an easy job...you may always take taht in consideration..lighting is HARD

...these days you will see a very quick development..we want to inaugurate on the 23th of june..this means LOTS of staff to be done, many details to be shorted out..and lots of tension..but it will work. They have installed the wood bank of the New technologies area..there is still nothing electronic install..it is being developed away from the show room..but you may get an idea of how it will look...

and what is happening in the "concepts" room??

..some important advances have also been taken in the concepts room..we have taken out the remains of the old temporal exhibit..and put the wood base for the technnical floor..it begins to look something different. As in the objects area, most of the work is being done in workshops out side the museum, there is not space or conditions to it here...so ..we may expect big changes in a short time..

hi again, work with objects carries on upstairs, we have now most of the objects back in the museum form the restauration lab (located outside the musuem building)..curators unpack some of them and check out the list...there are so many!

most of the objects are now in the museum..!! they have come from the restoration area well packed..we have been placing them and checking them out...it is time to do the defintive tryings..see if we may need some more..it is the pass from the paper to the show-box.

finally we got all of them!!

here they are we got now all the show cases of the objects room..it really looks impressive...walls have also been painted.. and now it begins another difficult job: disposition of objects..problems of sujection..and so on..the lights disposition...so much work still to do

..this week..there has been more!...we have three out of the five lateral showcases...we were told jut two were going to come but finally woodworkers could manage three. These days are fallas days and most woodworkers, if not all of them, are working on fallas..so it has been a good job..the objects room is beginning to be prepare for the objects to come..on monday we will began to decide their distribution and..how to fix them (but this is another story)

Hello there...almost three months and it seems that we have done really little...just have managed to install the showcase of room six (the objects room)..it is a showcase of 14 meters lenght and 3'20 of height..so it is big!!!

it is typical of exhibtions like this..we have been working a lot on destok work!..there is a lot of papaer work to be done realting to the money needed..contract of constructors and so on..we have also worked on selecting the objecs, restoring them....lots of things done, that are necessary but cannot be done on the exhibitions rooms yet...anyway here are some of the picture sof our first showcase.

..we finished the job in room 5..it looks so much wider!!..as it was originally..we belive now it has been a good decision..it will imporve the museographic possibilities ..wait and see how it gets transformed!

...while working in room 6...designers asked if there was the possibility of enlarging room 5 by removing wood panels on both sides, these have been used to cover windows and as exhbition areas so far...we doubted because of the money factor..they inisited it was a permanent exhibit!!!...finally we decided to give green light..and there we go!!...look at the pictures to see how it went..it looks as a total mess..but we will win a meter of space for the exhibit in that area!!

...last month of octuber..finally we began works in room 6; "horta i marjal" will take rooms 5 and 6 at the building...first jobs were reinforce panels to be able to subject a big glass box!!...that will run from part to part over the west wall......it took several days replacing old wood panels by new ones -the pictures show room 6 and how we loaded them from the courdyard...thanks Ferrer brothers!!!...so much work and still have not get to the objects time!

..our presentation of valencian popular culture is based on geo-cultural areas: the cities, the irrigated and wet lands, the dry lands and mountaneous parts. Because of the cost of the whole project we decided to built the permanent rooms in three lenghs.

The one related to cities is already done, its called LA CIUTAT VISCUDA, and it was openned some five years ago..pictures show how it looks. After a break due to structural reasons, we are now prepare to develop the other two: one showing valencian culture as it developed in irrigated and wet lands, and the other one showing forms of culture at the dry lands and the mountains.

Contents of each part are structurated on four sections: the spaces (ELS ESPAIS); to live in (HABITAR); to work (TREBALLAR) and to live together (CONVIURE)...
